We have lots of Authors After Dark fun to share with you all. This two day party is filled to the brim with Author Interviews, Reader contributions, Videos galore and Prizes that you really don't want to miss out on!! Without further ado... Let's get this party started!!
Please welcome Jessica B. to Simply Ali If you all remember Jessica was the lucky reader that ended up winning the AAD Registration from the Birthday Bash! A first-timer at Authors After Dark by Jessica B.
Hi,
My name is Jessica B and I won the AAD registration from Simply Ali’s birthday bash. AAD was awesome!! It was a lot of fun. I loved how the authors asked to join readers for meals that weren’t provided.
I also loved how AAD had tours with authors. I was able to go on a tour of the historical garden district with Theresa Meyers where we were able to see Anne Rice’s house, the Manning house (football player), the house used as the hospital for the Benjamin Button movie, the Lafayette Cemetery and much more.
They had panels that were fun to attend. The rooms were a little small and so some of the panels were VERY packed but it was fun to get to know the authors more. I enjoyed how the authors were able to relax and show their personalities. I have a list of books by authors that I loved meeting in person that I am looking into reading now.
It was amazing to meet and spend time with the talented Ali and Miranda, along with authors Jessa Slade, Joey Hill, Beth Williamson, and many many more.
This was a once in a lifetime thing for me and I wouldn’t change my time there for anything! Thank you Ali, for a once in a life time trip that I will never forget.
Authors After Dark truly is a conference that every romance lover should attend at least once in their lifetime! I had so much fun that I hardly know where to begin. Let's start with the excitement. My journey to AAD was made with a friend, Jessica, she drove from Illinois to Tennessee, to get me and then we hit the road to Nola together. You could literally feel the excitement in the car! Not only was it our first time at Authors After Dark but our first trip to New Orleans as well. To say that we will never be the same because of the experience is no lie, for instance there were thousands of men wearing red dresses all day Saturday :) more on that later.
We finally arrived and were welcomed by some of my favorite people Ms. Joy Harris & Ms. Melissa Nix (co-owners of Joyfully Reviewed) who escorted us to the AMAZING Melissa Schroeder's suite for the Harmless Addict party. Melissa S. went all out for her fans!! Lots of fantastic swag and heck she even brought along her cover model Derek (what a cutie!) After this was a hug fest with Laurie London! I feel like I've know her forever just through twitter but getting to meet her in person was so much better! Next it was dinner with the wonderful Erin Kellison :)! Yes, this is a convention where the authors hang out with the reader 24/7. Not only did we have dinner with Erin but the fabulous Jessa Slade as well. Another first I met two wonderful ladies from Australia Karen and Tracey. I bet you rarely think about the people half a world away reading the same things you are and loving them just as much. This dinner was an awesome experience.
I was dying to see Ms. Ali and can you believe it I had to wait until Thursday lol! Finally meeting Ali and getting a chance to know her in person was so exciting! Thursday was filled with lots of awesomeness. Author panels were great my fave being Men In Uniform! I loved Melissa Schroeder and Kris Cooks Saint's and Sinners Welcome party! It was a great opportunity to chat with readers and authors! Friday brought more panels including the Cover Art Panel hosted by Ms. Robin Ludwig! I was so excited about attending this panel and was not disappointed. Ms. Ludwig has some spectacular work out there including design for the Authors After Dark website. She was extremely kind and generous with her time and eager to answer all of our questions. Thank you Robin you made my trip so much greater! Ali and I got our Interview fun on as well and the Saints and Sinners Open bar with Melissa Schroeder and Kris Cook...AWESOME!! Then it was off to a fabulous dinner provided by the conference (which catered out-of-this-word food) leading into the Masquerade Ball. The costumes where out of this world!! I will be sharing some more photos with you later because you can't appreciate the detail until you see it.
Book-signing Saturday was packed with excited authors and readers! You could feel the happiness buzzing around in the packed rooms. Readers got the chance to have all their precious favorites signed by the authors they love. Saturday was also the last chance for people to get their raffle tickets bought and get those tattoos or corsets. The raffle baskets brought by Authors and Bloggers were phenomenal. The tattoo and corset salon was very cool. I didn't partake in the tattoos but I had a very sweet woman give me a corset. See, she had one that didn't fit and was planning to buy a new one with the excellent corset lady at the conference. She saw me sitting in the bar and offered it to me! That is the kind of generosity that you find at Authors After Dark. Thank you once again to Jackie Fitzpatrick!! I love my corset!!
The Author Pub Crawl Saturday night was CRAZY FUN!! AAD was taking place the same time as the annual Red Dress Run in New Orleans so there were over 7,000 men and women roaming Bourbon Street in red dresses Saturday Night! I drank absinthe for the first time with Laurie London. I may love Laurie but Absinthe well it rather sucked. LOL! I found Bourbon Street to be quite the experience. I don't think there is anywhere else that you can find total chaotic debauchery and preaching going on in the streets at the same time!
Sunday we were treated to a delightful Champagne Brunch courtesy of the fantabulous Kallypso Masters!! She went all out the food was again AMAZING and the company was even better. It was the perfect way to end my Authors After Dark experience. It was so sad to say goodbye to everyone! I am definitely already looking forward to Authors After Dark 2013 in Savannah!! I hope to see some of the Simply Ali family there!!
Thank you to AAD mastermind Stella Price and her staff for making everyone's experience unforgettable! And a special Thank you to Ali for making my adventure perfect!
Check out my AAD Nola Food & Fancy Slideshow below. Tomorrow I will have more fun for you all to see!
This year I had the privilege of attending AAD in NOLA. Not only was it taking place in a wonderful city, but this was probably one of the best cons I have attended. Yes, it was that good!
At AAD, I attended several panels in which were informative, not to mention they were was also very interesting. Some of the workshops offered this year were fantastic. What I did wish was that I had some kind of superpower so that I would have been able to attend all the panels, because at times, it was hard to decide which panel I wanted to attend! Oooh, there were also tons of parties in which were plenty fun. They gave away some awesome goodies. Who doesn’t appreciate goodies, lol. One of my favorite events was the Pub Crawl down on Bourbon St. I had so much fun, ok... I had too much fun, lol.
One of the things I love about AAD was that there were plenty of authors. I definitely got the chance to meet some new authors and I got to see some of my favorite ones, too. Also, just like at every con, you are constantly busy, but I really appreciated that I was able to actually explore NOLA. It was very nice and very considerate to have had set time aside to be able to explore city. When traveling to different cons, I never get the chance to actually go out into town. This was definitely a plus.
I definitely cannot wait to attend AAD Savannah!
Cowboy Lust ft. Runaway Bride
There’s a reason Western romance novels never go out of fashion. The cowboy is an iconic figure that embodies the dichotomy of the fiercely independent, earthy alpha male and the male as a nurturer. Given a picture of a man on a horse, wearing Wranglers, chaps, and with a broad-rimmed hat , women melt. Cowboys take care of their women, in every possible way. Wild and wayward women are gentled by the scent of horse, cow, and crisp, clean sweat; the sight of sun-kissed skin; the feel of work-hardened thighs and arms; and the sound of a deep-voiced, Texas drawl. COWBOY LUST satisfies readers who long to be rode hard and put away wet. Risky and risque, these classic stories are set in romantic settings from Montana, Texas, California, Mexico, and the Outback of Australia. Master of the wild west love story, Devlin’s strong and memorable characters range from hunks on horseback to a feisty female gunslinger. COWBOY LUST corralls within its pages a rodeo star, a cop on horseback, and lots of studs in spurs so hot you’ll be ready to take a vacation on a dude ranch!
Fournicopia: Delta Heat, Book 2
Gus Taggert knows a setup when he sees one. When one of his police officer buddies sends him on a doughnut run to one particular doughnut shop, Cornucopia, he hesitates. It’s too frilly and pink. However, the woman behind the counter serves him more than a couple dozen gourmet doughnuts, she gives him a mini-lesson in submission%mdash;something he’s eager to learn more about. When she orders him to see her that night at the BDSM club, La Forge, he’s more than eager to obey.
Newly vetted Domme, Aislinn Darby, has a sub she’s eager to take for a test run. The large, burly cop is the kind of alpha guy she’s been dying to tie up and spank. However, after she takes him through his paces, she finds herself more than willing to let him take control, something she hasn’t enjoyed with a man before. Gus’s brand of loving is addictive, but now she’s doubting herself and her own ability to control a scene. She has to have him back for one more go, only this time, she’s going to do it with a crowd around them to ensure he doesn’t forget who’s in charge. She bribes him into submission. Accept her dictates, and he can have her any way he wants as reward.
What Gus wants is Aislinn in the middle of a scene he orchestrates himself with the help of three of his best friends.
Laying Down the Law
Triplehorn Brand, Book 1
A lifetime ago, Zuri Prescott kicked the dirt off her boots and ditched her small-time small town for the glam city life—and lived to regret it. When she’s framed for a bank job, she lights out for home, seeking refuge with her old high school sweetheart while she figures out her next steps. Only she discovers that the boy she left behind is the last man she should trust.
Sheriff Colt Triplehorn knows trouble when he sees it, especially when it comes in the form of a familiar trespasser, caught naked between an angry bull and her underwear. Sure she’s up to her usual no good, he grants her sanctuary at his ranch—the better to keep an eye on her, and purge her from his system once and for all.
Reconnection is sweet and hot, but the heat can’t hide the truth. When Colt inevitably finds out what Zuri’s running from, it’s too late to put the fire out, and he’s got a career-compromising choice on his hands. Follow the letter of the law, or follow his heart.
Product Warnings: When a sheriff captures the girl who got away, expect revenge so hot it leaves brands on two lonely hearts…
