Blurb
Hired to transport the donor clone across the country for the heart transplant needed to save her nephew’s life, private detective Fallon Monroe never expected to be hunted by terrorists, dirty cops, and her sister’s hired henchmen, all while carrying the burden of a terrible choice.
Excerpt
It was the best advice she’d heard all day.
The back door was smash-welded shut where he’d dragged alongside the metal containers. Fallon wrenched open the front door and shoved Jamie inside. Before she could jump in and pull him across her lap, he climbed into the back seat.
“Hang on!” John shouted.
The car shot forward, revved to redline. A strange clack-clack-clack under the hood increased with their speed.
Fallon slammed her harness into place and wrenched around. “Seatbelt!”
Jamie was already pushing the hasp into the clip. He looked up, and his eyes pierced hers with such intensity it shook her. There was a bright intelligence in his, a profound understanding that shattered everything she had believed and rocked her with shame. He knows everything.
John wrenched the car around a corner with a squealing of tires. Despite the broken arm, he held the wheel with a capable grip. He was driving too fast, but controlled the little car like an expert.
“You came back.” The threat of tears stung her throat, more from the intensity of what had just happened, what she’d just lived through, than any emotional connection. And yet, the emotional link was there too.
“I never left.”
Favorite color Blue. No, green. No, purple. Um, magenta.
Favorite food Pasta. Without a doubt. Because I’m feeling generous I’ll share my favorite recipe: linguini with clam sauce (at the end of this list). So easy and so delish!
Boots or heels Boots. I have eight pairs. 4 high heels, 2 mid, and 2 flats. At the risk of confessing an addiction, I’ll just say I love shoe warehouse shopping. It’s hard to go into one and not find something I like.
eReader or Print Both. I have two kindles, a 3G and a Fire. But sometimes I need to go back to print books, just to keep it fresh. OMG did I really just say keep it fresh?
Social Media: Love it or Hate it? Haaaaaaaatttttee it.
Beer, Liquor or Wine Wine, white, no sulfites (I’m allergic).
Favorite TV Show The Walking Dead. Favorite. Show. Ever. I’m also enjoying Game of Thrones. And I absolutely cannot wait for the new season of Dexter to begin.
Favorite Book series (besides your own) Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum, and Nora Roberts’ In Death.
Pj’s or Lingerie PJs, much to the chagrin of my husband.
Vampires vs. Shifters Would have to say shifters, my opinion colored by Sam Merlott and Alcide Herveaux.
Favorite Genre Do I have to pick one? But I like so many! Well obviously romance is at the top, but for subgenre I love romantic suspense and historical romance. Which is why I write them :)
Sautee a mashed garlic clove in oil, dump in a can of clams, a splash of white wine and ½ teaspoon of chili powder and voila: the best clam sauce ever. MUST be served with fresh grated parmesan.
About the Author
Pamela Fryer has a vivid imagination. As a teenager, she thought she’d write a book, have Stephen King-like fame, and buy a big house for her family in Woodside Hills (where today you can’t find a fixer-upper for under a million dollars). Reality sank in fast, but that didn’t stop Pamela from writing the stories spinning through her imagination.
When asked why she writes romance, the answer is simple. There’s too much violence, anger and hatred in this world, and this is her way of bringing back a tiny bit of joy. Her favorite stories to write are about the reluctant heroine like Fallon Monroe—the underdog, the persecuted, the one against the many, the small against the large, who somehow manage to rise above undefeatable odds and triumph. And always with a happy ending.
Pamela Fryer lives in Northern California with her family and a sweet little adoptee from the local animal shelter who is now running the household. Please visit Pamela's Website. She loves hearing from readers. Send an email to Pamela HERE.
Pamela will be awarding $10 Amazon GCs to three randomly drawn commenters during the tour and an autographed copy of her novel, The Midnight Effect to one randomly drawn commenter during the tour.
The more you comment the better your chances of winning! HERE you will find the schedule for the rest of the tour stops. Good luck everyone!!

Hi Pamela,
I've just begun reading your book and it's quite interesting, but the idea of organ harvesting is still a bit frightening.

Hi Ali, Thanks so much for having me today! In thinking about my linguini recipe I decided to make it last night, completely forgetting I had a dentist appointment today. I hope I don't poison him with my breath :)
Lyra, it seems a lot of people find cloning and organ harvesting frightening. I think I've opened up a real can of worms! Thanks for commenting.
Thank you for hosting Pamela today!
Well this year, I am doing alot of "firsts". I've never read one of your books before, but I will be checking out this book because of this review.

Hi Pamela
Thank you for the post, I enjoyed it very much.

I actually have to read this book. it has really grabbed my interest.
"Last Rights" sounds very intense and highly intriguing at the same time. I've never heard of it before today's post but I'm adding it to my list. I do love clams but I'm more of a red sauce girl...and who doesn't like Magenta....lol....
Yay, gotta love Fast and Flirty! Great answers...

Maria I like the marinara too, but you've gotta try this clam sauce at least once (you'll love it, I promise) and the good news is my dentist said he wasn't made nauseous by my breath...
Mhm, I'll have to try clam sauce if you recommend it so much.
I like Fallon, so I'm curious, do you have a favorite character in "Last Rights", if so who?

That clam sauce sounds so simple. Does it really make enough "sauce"?
Jibriel, that's a really good question. Because while I always love my hero and heroine as if I were living their romance, (sometimes I even cry while I write) often there is a secondary character I can't stop thinking about. In this case it's Lucille, the flamboyant waitress who comes to the aid of my characters with her antique shotgun. She's the kind of person I'd like to have as a friend.
Catherine, try using two cans of clams if you're making it for more than one person. Then you'll have enough for 3-4. And feel free to be as liberal with the wine as you like. I simmer mine for a while so it "reduces" and it's more than enough for me go pig out on :)
A vivid imagination has got to be a bonus, & a must, for a writer.
I'm not a fan of clams, but thanks for the recipe.
