CONTEMPORARY EROTIC ROMANCE (BDSM, MENAGE)
The Connaghers #3
Publisher: Samhain Publishing, coming May 8, 2012
All fire and gunpowder need is a stray spark…
The day one of her old clients gunned down a cop, former defense attorney Vicki Connagher lost everything—her passion for justice, and her lover, Detective Elias Reyes. The dead cop’s partner.
Even though she’s following her dream to start her own fashion line, it’s tough with heartache as her only companion. Until she brings Jesse, a wandering street artist, in from a freak Texas snowstorm. His submissive flirting brings out dominant tendencies she never knew she possessed, yet she hesitates to let him take her as far and as hard as she wants to go. Some homeless junkie in Vicki’s house? Not on Elias’s watch. Pride kept him away, but as long as Jesse is staying in Vicki’s downstairs shop, he’s staying with Vicki. On the couch, but it’s a start.
As the days go by, the three work out an uneasy alliance. But Vicki’s joy at having Elias back in her life is tempered with a growing desire to have it all. Elias in her bed, and Jesse under her command. The only question remaining is if her tough alpha cop is willing to embrace all that she is…
Product Warnings Explicit sex, BDSM, a tough alpha cop, a reluctant Domme, and a smoldering submissive street artist willing to do anything to belong to her.

Ali: Is there an author that makes you go all "fangirl?"
Joely: Several! Lynn Viehl, Robert Jordan (so sad that he passed away), and Larissa Ione are at the top of my list. I met Larissa at RT in Chicago and barely held back my squees!
Ali: If you could co-write with another author who would it be and why?
Joely: My sister, Molly Burkhart. She’s hilarious and loves a good fight scene. Plus we both love zombies!
Ali: The world is under attack and you are forced to run for your life. You only have room for one book in your survival kit, what book do you take?
Joely: It’d be a toss up between The Swiss Family Robinson and The Zombie Survival Guide.
Ali: Who are your favorite literary characters? (Yours or someone else's)
Joely: If we’re talking mine, Gregar, the wickedly sexy assassin from the Shanhasson series. Otherwise, Drogo in Game of Thrones, Cherijo in Viehl’s StarDoc series, and Elizabeth Bennett.
Ali: Are there any of your secondary characters you would like to give more life to?
Joely: Someday, I’d really like to do Mama Connagher’s story (Conn, Victor, and Vicki’s Mama from The Connaghers series).
Ali: If you friends were asked to describe you in one word what would it be?
Joely: Hardworking
Ali: What is your greatest passion?
Joely: Other than my family, writing. I think I’d die if I had to give it up.
Ali: Where do you do your best work?
Joely: 5 AM, the only person awake in the whole house, with a steaming cup of coffee and my laptop downstairs in my office. However, it’s HARD to get up that stinking early! I go through months where I can get up consistently; others not so much. Like Jan - April this year. :( Winter months and DST kill me.
Ali: Do you find it harder to write a full-length novel or novellas?
Joely: Novellas are tough but a challenge I can’t resist. I like a lot of worldbuilding along with the smexy time, which is hard to fit into a small package!
Ali: When did you fall in love...with writing?
Joely: Sept 2003 I had a talk with my sister that I’ll never forget. We’ve both been writing ever since.
Ali: Who is your greatest inspiration?
Joely: My kids. They’re so creative and brilliant and funny in their own ways.
Ali: Is there a trope out there that you hate?
Joely: I hate you, I hate you more, no, I lurve you…
Ali: Are you a plotter or fly by the seat of your pants writer?
Joely: Both, though I mostly plot.
Ali: What is your favorite thing to do outside of writing?
Joely: Getting lost in a book
*Favorite color: red
*Favorite food: coffee (as much as I go through, it’s a food)
*Boots or heels: Boots with heels!
*eReader or Print: Ereader (kindle)
*Social Media: Love it or Hate it: Love Twitter, working on more facebook
*Beer, Liquor or Wine: Wine (red)
*Favorite place to get it on besides the bedroom: On the page!

So excited about finding you on this blog! I am the opposite of you for social media by the way I figured out facebook but twitter is still a mystery to me the word 'hashtag' being the biggest mystery of all I have no clue what people mean when they say use this hashtag lol! Thanks for the fun interview :)

Thanks to Joely for stopping by my blog today!
How awesome that you and your sister both decided to become writers :) I'm sure it would be awesome to co-write a story with her :)
I liked the part where Joely said the best place to get it on is on the page! NICE

Fun interview! I think it's great that both you and your sister are writers - gives you something else besides blood for bonding. I can't wait for Yours to Take to come out.
I love coffee, red wine and the color red too!

I read Dear Sir, I'm Yours and really liked it. Now I've added Yours to Take to my TBR list.
I think your new book, a glass of red wine and no one bugging me sounds like a perfect evening.
I've been hearing alot about you lately, Joley Sue ~ and this sounds GREAT!
I really like a menage if it's all about the love, not just the sex!
(So yeah, it's me again. I keep forgetting to leave my email address.)

Vicki! I've been waiting a while for her book, and now it's finally here. :) I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Julieguan at gmail dot com, because I'm forgetful.
Interesting that your kids are your insperation for BDSM books...J/K! I get it how they are insperational. My daughters amaze me daily!
I love getting to work early and being the only one there...get so much done. My problem is I also like to stay up late...and READ!

Never read Robert Jordan but heard mismatch things that put me off the series.
Children are great muses when they least expect it.

Hi Joely,
I've read the first two stories in
the Connaghers series and looking forward to Elias, Jesse and Vicki's story.
I love Judge Judy! Watch her every night, lol.

Thank you for the wonderful interview Ladies! And Joely, as a fellow sister I would love to read your co-written story with your sis :-D Maybe an erotica with zombies? I'm sure it would be quite the unique story ;-)
Thank you!
stella.exlibris (at) gmail (dot) com
I love that you and your sister love to write. It must be wonderful to have a support system that understands the writing process.

Thank you, Ali for having me today!
Thanks, Savannah! I don't use a lot of hashtags myself - but Twitter is so fun and fast. I go to facebook and can't find anything!
Thanks, Laura - I love BDSM too! Enjoy!
Thanks so much, Joanne!
Mich, drools, yes, Jason is to die for. I had to quit watching Game of Thrones once he was gone. (I've read the first three books so I already know lots of characters die!).
Ali, Maria, Stella, Stacie, I guess I should have warned my sister that I was wanting to co-write something with her! Ha, knowing her, she's already got the idea and has been waiting for me to bring it up...
Stella, I do have a zombie romance in the works. Not erotic at this point but it needs some revisions. I'm hoping to get it released by Halloween. :-)
Ha, Abby, thanks! I'm so boring in real life I couldn't find anything else to say.
Aw, thanks so much, kog! Hope you enjoy Vicki. She's quite a hand full!!
Melissa, yay, I hope it's good stuff you're hearing! Definitely, for me it's the way the characters interact, how they compromise and adjust to such a complicated situation. Of course the sex happens too but it's really the characters for me.
Julie and Cathy, thanks so much! I hope you enjoy Vicki!
Mariah, ack! Definitely not for the BDSM aspects. :-) But they constantly amaze me every day. (Of course they make tons of messes and dramas too.)
Raonaid, the first six RJ books are *amazing*. Loved them. Book 6 I read straight through, staying up all night and stopping only to go to classes the next day (I was in grad school - couldn't skip). 7-10 were slower for me. Unfortunately he passed away. I'm waiting for Sanderson to finish the series, and then I've promised to read it all the way through one last time.
Chelsea, I'd be ashamed if I had to admit how many pounds of coffee I go through in a month!
Oh, Sis! I'm all gibbery now! I love love LOVE the idea of hashing out a book together sometime, of course! I don't have an idea yeeeeet... but now that you brought it uuuuuppppp.... *snerk*
I can honestly say that you're always in mind when I write, Sis, and as I glance over what I've written for the day, I think about what you'll think about it. Love you! Admire you! And oh, God, am I so proud of you!
OMG - you SO need to write Mama Connagher’s story!! I adore this series - can't wait for Yours to Take.
susanmik AT gmail DOT com
You guys are my witness - she's agreed to co-author something with me! (Gutterball is my sister, Molly Burkhart!)
Susan, I'm definitely thinking about it! I talked with my editor about it at RT and she's open to the idea. I've just got to figure out the story. :-)
Great interview. It would be amazing to meet Larissa Ione.

bn100, Elaing8, and erin: thank you for stopping by!
LOL! Great interview, Joely! And woot! I saw it here first! You and Molly are totally going to cowrite something! Probably with zombies! ;p And Mama Connagher's story, too! Yeah!!! Sounds like you'll be keeping busy, Joely :) (I'm not sure I could hold back my squees should I ever chance to meet you or Larissa in person... brace yourself! ;))

Just wonderful!! I had to laugh at THE SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON. This was my favorite book growing up. It would be useful.

Hi Joely!!!!
:X Sorry I'm so tardy here. Gah.
Wow, really interesting story premise with Yours to Take. Definitely not a cotton candy read there!
Drogo! I've only seen the tv series but uh, that's enough, yes? ;D Too bad he turned into a zombie and got smothered to death...
I see you're an early bird. These days... the only reason I'd be awake at 5 AM is because I haven't been to bed yet.
