Bliss, Colorado gave Hope McLean a second chance at life but she is hiding a dark secret.

Raised as brothers, James Glen and Noah Bennett always dreamed of finding a woman to share their lives on the Circle G ranch. James would run the ranch, while Noah served the town of Bliss as the resident vet. But when a woman came between the brothers, Noah fled for New York City and James was left to struggle for the ranch’s survival alone.

Now that Noah has returned, he will do anything to repay his debt to James. When he sees Hope, he knows she is the woman they both have been waiting for. But just as their love begins to bloom, a nightmare from Hope’s past returns to claim her.

To save Hope, and themselves, they will have to reforge the brotherhood that was shattered and fight for their future.

Ali: Is there an author that makes you go all “fangirl?”

Sophie: There are several. I love The Hunger Games so meeting Suzanne Collins would be amazing. On the romance end, I grew up reading Jayne Ann Krentz and Linda Howard. I was actually sitting in New York with Shayla Black eating breakfast at RWA Nationals last year and we looked over and two tables away sat Jayne Ann Krentz and Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I managed to maintain my professional demeanor and not attack her. JAK is my comfort food.

Ali: If you could co-write with another author who would it be and why?

Sophie: I have co-written a couple of times. I have a book with Chloe Lang and I co-wrote several books with Shayla Black under another pen name. I’ll be honest, it’s a deeply intimate thing to write a book with another author. I wouldn’t write with someone I don’t know. Shayla and I are best friends who are pretty much in each other’s lives twenty-four seven. We like to say we’re married – we certainly are financially.

Ali: What are you looking forward to most about AADNola?

Sophie: It’s my first AAD and I’m looking forward to everything! I’ve never been in New Orleans. I really want to see the city.

Ali: The world is under attack and you are forced to run for your life. You only have room for one book in your survival kit, what book do you take?

Sophie: Can’t I take my Kindle? I guess not. It would need a charge. One book. I would take a blank one and a pen because I couldn’t choose and would probably find comfort in writing while the zombies attack.

Ali: Who are your favorite literary characters? (Yours or someone else’s)

Sophie: I think my first favorite literary character was Sydney Carton from A Tale of Two Cities. He’s the ultimate self-sacrificing reformed bad boy. From romance I would say I adore Dane Hollister from Linda Howard’s Dream Man and Sam Stark from Trust Me by Jayne Ann Krentz.

Of my own characters, I would say I have a definite soft spot for Julian Lodge.

Ali: Are there any of your secondary characters you would like to give more life to?

Sophie: I’ve been building up this one character for six books. He’s from my Nights in Bliss series. I was talking to a reviewer friend the other day and she asked me about Logan Green. He starts out in Three to Ride as this kind of goofy manchild deputy and over the course of the series something very tragic happens to him and he morphs into this tortured guy. So the reader gets to see his whole story arc played out over seven or eight books.

*Favorite color: Green

*Favorite food: Tex-Mex

*Boots or heels: heels

*eReader or Print: e-reader

*Beer, Liquor or Wine: Wine!

*Favorite place to get it on besides the bedroom: swimming pool

*Favorite TV Show: Spartacus or Ringer

*Favorite Book series (besides your own): Club Shadowlands by the magnificent Cherise Sinclair

*Pj’s or Lingerie: sadly, PJs

*Vampires vs. Shifters: Vamps, vamps, vamps!

Sophie is giving the winner of today's daily contest a copy of Pure Bliss! Thank You Sophie!!

Hi, Sophie! You're going to LOVE New Orleans. I cut my teeth on JAK too as well as Nora so I can definitely relate to being star-struck when you meet them.

Thanks for the great interview.

Great interview! I always love finding out who an author would act "fangirl" like with. I have Sophie's "Desire, Oklahoma" series but haven't had a chance to read the Nights in Bliss series yet. Thanks for the giveaway!

I really like this type of premise, but of course it's all in the execution.

Thank you for the chance, both of you!

OMG I love the Masters of the Shadowlands series too! I cannot wait for Master Sam to get his story with Linda. The same goes for sub Sally and the two FBI agents.

Hi Sophie,

Love, love your Bliss series. Logan broke my heart and I am beyond thrilled that he gets to have his own series.

Those early Linda Howard and Jayne Ann Krentz titles still sit proudly on my favorite's shelf (I have those early books by Elizabeth Lowell hanging out with them too). Definitely comfort reads.

My hubby loves Sparticus. Neat to see Lucy Lawless in another series. Though the overbudance of sex in it kills me.

Great interview

Thanks so much to everyone who read the interview! Melissa B - Shayla Black writes a series with an author named Lexi Blake. I've heard she looks an awful lot like me and she has a series called Masters and Mercenaries. She likes to combine really hot sex with suspense and humor - again a lot like me.

Hi Sophie!

Great interview - I also [dorkily? geekily? scarily?] was all "!!!" to see you chose heels. I think you might be the first person to!

As for the character - Sydney. Gah. "It is a far far better thing that I do than I have ever done..." it didn't even matter that my mean sister spoilered the book for me when I was only on chapter 14.

What do you think of the newer seasons of Spartacus? I have to admit I'm a huge classics geek, but Andy Whitfield was fully 50% of the reason I started watching. :'( Andy.

(Sorry - it's 2:15 AM and I'm punchdrunkhypertired)

How is it possible I never read anything by Sophie Oak yet? Mystery, but adding her to my wishlist now as her book sounds great! (I will also have to check out Jayne Ann Krentz and Susan Elizabeth Phillips's books one of these days, everyone keeps praising them)

Enjoy your first AAD Sophie!

Thank you for the giveaway!

Very nice interview. All the books sound good. I like books about secondary characters.

I like the idea of taking pen & paper, rather then just one book. I could write my last moments - so sad.

Sophie...you had me at Linda Howard, SEP and JAK. All three of them are autobuy/comfort food for me also. Shayla Black is one of my all time favorites, too. :)

I really need to stop into Bliss. :)
