Simply Ali Spotlights Jessica Jarman!!

Today Simply Ali welcomes Author Jessica Jarman, another fabulous author that will be attending
Authors After Dark Nola!

Take a look at Jessica's fiery new release from Resplendence Publishing, Secrets and Spells.

Secrets and Spells

Northern Circle series, Book One

Resplendence Publishing

Paranormal, Erotic, Romance

March 28, 2012

Anxious for a change and wanting to learn more about her late mother and where she came from, Thalia Wells accepts a job in the small town of Parrish. As she settles into her new life, she begins to notice unsettling oddities about her new home.

Gray is used to secrets. Being a witch and living in a town of people with magical abilities means living with secrets. But keeping Thalia in the dark kills him especially when it brings her pain.

Thalia doesn't believe in magic and had given up on happily ever after, but can she find both with Gray?

You can read an excerpt of Secrets and Spells here

Ali: Is there an author that makes you go all “fangirl?”

Jessica: Definitely. I love Shelly Laurenston and have been lucky enough to meet her. I’ve actually pimped her books out at the bookstore to lucky readers hanging in the romance section (LOL) and her books are an autobuy for me. The other author for me would be Nora Roberts/JD Robb. Love her stuff and am always waiting for the next one. I’d probably make a complete fool of myself if I met her. :)

Ali: If you could co-write with another author who would it be and why?

Jessica: I actually have plans to co-write a book with Gwendolyn Cease. I can’t think of anyone I’d rather write with—she makes me laugh, we look at things the same way, and I can’t wait to get started on it with her when we both finish some individual projects we are working on.

Ali: What are you looking forward to most about AADNola?

Jessica: Seeing friends I don’t get to see in person very often and meeting new readers. And I’ve always wanted to go to New Orleans, so I’m definitely looking forward to being there and exploring.

Ali: The world is under attack and you are forced to run for your life. You only have room for one book in your survival kit, what book do you take?

Jessica: Only one book? No! Okay, um, I guess I would have to say Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. All-time favorite book.

Ali: Who are your favorite literary characters? (Yours or someone else’s)

Jessica: Elizabeth and Darcy from Pride and Prejudice. Not surprising, right? LOL I can’t get enough—re-read the book, read sequels, watch any and every film adaptation because their love story rocks. :)

Ali: Are there any of your secondary characters you would like to give more life to?

Jessica: Hands down, Seth from my Into the Shadows series. He is a young vampire (well, young by their standards) who was supposed to be a “walk on” character, but managed to grow into more and ingrain himself into the core group of the series. Moreover, he came to life in my head. I have big plans for him.

Ali: If your friends were asked to describe you in one word what would it be?

Jessica: (Dang, that’s a hard one!) Um… fun. I want to be the fun one! :)

*Favorite colorGreen

*Favorite food – Pizza

*Boots or heels - Boots

*eReader or Print - eReader

*Beer, Liquor or Wine - Wine

*Favorite place to get it on besides the bedroom – Anywhere. :) Does that make me easy? Honestly though, with the right person, “where” doesn’t really matter much, in my opinion. Although, as sexy as outdoor lovin’ sounds, in Minnesota (or the anywhere in the Midwest, I guess), mosquitos take the allure out of it all. LOL

*Favorite TV Show – Supernatural

*Favorite Book series (besides your own) – In Death series by JD Robb

*Pj’s or Lingerie – Pjs

*Vampires vs. Shifters – Vampires

Loved your answers, Jessica! I definitely need to check out your books.
I also really like the title of your new book - reminds me of The Secret Circle. (Books I loved when they came out - haven't watched the tv show and am scared to...)

Adding on my own question - do you have a favorite sequel/adaptation of Elizabeth and Darcy to recommend?

Oooh, GREAT blog, Jessica and Ali! And OMG, I'm so w/ you on Shelly AND Nora! And I do that book pimping at the book store, too, lol. My daughter will be like...do you KNOW her, Mommy? No, but I do NOW! he/he! I've actually been lucky enough to have met Nora few times at signings...so I've got some of my fav's signed by her. But my goal is to one day make it to Turn The Page signing, and maybe even stay in Eve & Roarke room!

What a great excerpt! I am hooked. I love your fangirl choices - me too!

I have a question for you: do you write full-time or have a day job as well? (Whether it be outside the home or raising kids - lord knows those are both full-time jobs...)

Jessica, you're a new-to-me author! Glad to "meet" you and add your titles to my TBB! I love Ms. Laurenston's writing, too, and would likely be an incoherent fangirl if given the chance to meet her in person :)

This sounds very intriguing. I have not had the opportunity to read a story from you, but I am adding you to my TBR. :)
I hear you about the mosquitoes. I live in FL near the Everglades, so I'm sure you can imagine.
Thank you for the chance to read one of your stories.

Thank you, everyone, for the great responses, and thank you, Ali, for having me on your blog! :) I feel right at home here with all the Austin/P&P, Nora, Shelly, and Supernatural lovers. :) And I know Ali shares my Doctor Who obsession...so yep, right at home. :)

To answer the questions asked...
@Limecello I liked Mr. Darcy's Diary. Some other ones to check out Mr. Darcy Presents His Bride, Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife Letters From Pemberley, Pemberley Shades, Mrs. Darcy's Dilemma. I just picked up The Darcy Saga by Sharon Lathan. Don't know if that's good, but I'm hoping! (I really could go on and on. LOL)

@kog I work part-time from home and have four kids in addition to writing. I'm trying really hard to fit more writing time in--it's getting easier as the kids are getting older. :)

Good luck all with the contests!
~Jess
