My Joyfully Reviewed review... and what I'll be up to tonight...

I believe I mentioned a while back that I now review for Joyfully Reviewed. As with most good things in my life, this happened by chance. One minute I was saying yes to reviewing a book and next thing I know, I'm part of the review staff... I really should pay better attention to things, lol.
My first review was for Alien Revealed by Lilly Cain. Alien Revealed is the first in Ms. Cain's science-fiction romance seires, The Confederacy Treaty, with Carina Press. After reading this, I'm now a definte fan of Ms. Cain's works and can't wait for the next story in this series. Read my review and find out why here.

Now, I have been reading some more for Joyfully Reviewed, and should have some more reviews written shortly.

But, tonight I'll be reading more for me. On my list of reads are:

To catch a killer, all three must work together, but with each passing day it becomes harder to deny his attraction to Lucian. Losing Haley isn't an option, but can Alex make a threesome work forever?

Haley finally knows why Alex has been uptight. But she doesn't quite know what to do when Alex tells her his feelings for Lucian. She's even more unsure when Lucian approaches her about a threesome. She doesn't intend to lose Alex, but could she ever love Lucian enough to make it work?

Lucian wants Alex, and it's not long before he re realizes he wants Haley just as much. A few nights of sating his lust is what he thinks he needs, but unexpectedly Lucian begins to have feelings for both. Alex is stubborn about his feelings, but with the help of Haley, maybe together they can satisfy the Desire of Three.

Bathroom remodeling... thank God for fathers... and giveaway reminder

Not only have I changed the look of my blog *yay*, but I've also recently started remodeling a bathroom in my house.
It's funny how one thing tends to lead to another... and before you know, what started out as a leak has now turned into a whole new bathroom.
See, I had a leak somewhere around my bath tub that actually made it to the carpet in my living on the other side of the wall, gr. So, being the smart girl that I am, guess what I did? I called my dad, of course ;) hehe
We thought he had fixed the problem... but, a month later, again the carpet is wet and now hideous.
Great, I thought, I'm going to have to buy a new bathtub and shower. Just not how I wanted to spend my money right now... I'd rather buy more books or attend another book convention *bg* After some dirty work (um, all by my dad) we found out that no new bathtub would be needed *phew* and with some repair it was all fixed, thank God.
Since we were already working on the bathroom, my dad and I talked about the trouble with the toilet and how it was a bit lopsided. So, we figured we'd get that fixed. In order to do that, though, the tiles around the toilet would have to be taken out. That was fine with me, the previous owners had left me some extra tiles.... Um, come to find out, it was the wrong size *doh*.
No problem, I talk to my dad and say 'Okay, let's just have the whole bathroom re-tiled.' Off to Home Depot we go (This week, to date, we've made three trips to that store and still no hunky single guys to be found, lol).
Guys, I do not lie when I say I have one of the best father in the world. This man knows how much I love the color chocolate brown. So much so, that my new bathroom is based around this color, lol. When we picked the tile, my dad said it had to be a color that would go with my favorite chocolate brown shade. Um, okay. I honestly thought I would just close my eyes and pick a tile, lol. I must let you in on a secret. Interior decorator, I am not, lol. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I can't coordinate anything.
So, we buy new pretty tiles, some new towel hanger... heck, why not throw in a new toilet? He even suggested we paint the bathroom (I'd rather he had suggested to hire someone to paint the bathroom for me, lol) and picked out two colors. Chocolate brown for two walls and a lighter color for the other two walls. Brilliant, I tell you :)
Wait, now I'm going to have new tiles, toilet, paint... what about the ugly cabinet and mirror? You guessed it, those were going to be replaced, too. After looking around for a ready made vanity, my dad decided to call the guys that had custom built the one at his house. Awesome!
At this stage, tile and toilet are put in. Amateur paint job is done (at least it was cheaper than hiring someone, hehe). And, now I have a new cabinet *bg* I cannot tell you how beautiful I think it is... I feel so special that it was custom built, hehe. The only major thing we're waiting on is the sink top. That's being custom built as well, and my father graciously picked out the color for me... guess what it is? Heck if I know, lol. I wasn't there when he picked it out, but it's supposed to go with brown, lol.
Amazingly, this project will be finished in less than a week, from the moment we said go. Once my dad starts a project he doesn't quit until it's done. I say it's the soldier in him :)
By tomorrow evening, everything should be all done! Yay! I'll have to take a couple pics to share...

I mentioned no hunky single guys at Home Depot, right? Well, funny side story, yesterday evening we made our way back to this new favorite store of mine. Before we get out of the car, I apply lipstick and tell my dad's friend that you never know who we may meet, lol. She cracked up... while my dad just gave me one of those looks that tells me I'm crazy, lol. Once we're inside, a couple times I said, in a really loud voice, 'Thanks so much, DAD.' He was onto me after the first time, lol... see, some people have made the mistake of thinking that we're dating, ewwwww.

Pre-RomCon

I'm writing this from my hotel in downtown Denver tonight... I'm here for the first RomCon, Inc. Convention :)

Getting this far was a bit of a headache. With it being the first year, I completely understood when there was confusion as far as registration and meals. It was a pain in my butt, but again, understandable. I'm just glad I'm finally in Denver *bg*

I'm not staying at the hotel where the convention is being held. Instead, I'll join tomorrow when the convention starts. For tonight, I'm enjoying a relaxing evening at The Curtis hotel.

I'll be posting updates every night, but probably won't be able to share pics until I get back home and upload them. I do know that author Melissa Schroeder is planning something special to let those who aren't able to be here the experience of joining in the fun... I'll post more on that later.

Top 5 Things I'm looking forward to at RomCon:

1. Hanging out with Melissa Schroeder and Joy from Joyfully Reviewed

2. Stalking Meeting author Carolyn Crane, again... only, this time, I'll definitely be talking about her book, Mind Games

3. Getting together with my best-friend, Niki, who lives here in Colorado. She may not be much of a romance reader, but she'll be joining me at this convention... and I finally get to meet my baby nephew, her son *bg*

4. Meeting all the great authors that'll be attending... such as Erin Nicolas, Melissa Schroeder, Carolyn Crane, Anna Campbell, Nalini Singh... and so many more *bg*

5. I get to hang out and talk with other romance readers! That's what this convention is all about and I'm psyched that I get to attend the first year!

Now, for this convention I have a very wonderful person joining me :-)... my cousin, Eli!! This is her first convention! I'll definitely have her post her thoughts on this convention as well... now...

  • Plane tickets for the two of us to Denver: $$$
  • Hotel rooms for convention: $$ (This doesn't include tonight's stay at The Curtis... I got it for $45 on Priceline. Yes, I've been sharing that with anyone who'll listen, lol. I just love to name my own price, hehe)
  • Registration for RomCon: $130 (Actually a great price, and I only had to pay for myself as Eli got a free registration)
  • Having Eli with me this weekend: Priceless

Until tomorrow...
