Okay, today's Book Chat is a first in Simply Ali's blog :) This is where a reader (currently my cousin, Eli) and I read the same book and share our thoughts. This week's choice was Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I finished most of it today at Starbucks under the watchful eye of Eli, lol, who reprimanded me everytime I looked up from the book, lol. **Warning, there are a few spoilers involved, but the ending is not given away.**

Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon:
Grace, with the help of her friend Selena, summoned a love-slave from the ancient greek world – Julian of Macedon. Julian, who is cursed, had never known love, but sure knew his way around women. His job was to pleasure whoever summoned him, and this time was Grace’s turn! Ever since Grace was hurt by a lover, she hadn’t been able to trust in any man. Grace and Julian end up finding love and trust in each other, but will it be enough to break the curse?
Eli: So, Ali - Its about time you finished reading Sherrilyn Kenyon's Fantasy Lover!
Ali: I know, I know... after over two weeks of not reading anything except the back of cereal boxes, lol... *gasp* I know... I'm glad this is the first book I read!!
Eli: It was a fantastic book at that! Though, I think the barista had a good time having us sitting there, what do you think? LOL
Ali: Yup, I don't think he wanted us to leave until exactly 11pm when they closed, lol
Eli: I truly did love this book, I have enjoyed it so much, I laughed, I Ahhhhhed (as you know) and OOOHHed at it! I have already recommended it to a couple of my friends!
Ali: Okay, so I had already heard a lot about Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series... in fact, I swear I've already read another book in the series, lol (I know I've broken a commandment by reading out of order, lol) and, of course, I went in expecting a good, thoroughly enjoyable story... and I have to say, I was not disappointed.
Eli: Julian of Macedonian, was to kill for!
Ali: I'd definitely knock you out to get to him. Seriously, as far as tortured alpha heroes go, he is just one of the hottest in recent reads.
Eli: I truly did like Selena and Grace. I wish I had a friend like a Selena... someone who would give me such a hot number! I love how all the greek gods were in this book, well the ones I know of atleast, LOL. The only thing was, it was a little confusing. I'm not too familiar with them, and when a new one popped up, it was hard for me to follow sometimes.
Ali: I know, there were some parts that had me wondering who all these other characters were... but, after reading on, it all clicked. I really loved the beginning of this story and how Grace didn't want to use Julian as so many other women had.
Eli: I thought it was so funny! I couldn't stop laughing, and I could just picture Julian in the living room looking all confused, like what the heck! This woman doesn't want me? LOL Because I know I would have!
Ali: Exactly! LOL I've got to say, Sherrilyn wrote such great characters and it was amazing watching both Grace and Julian grow and learn from each other. It was so emotional to read how far they would go and how much they would sacrifice for the other person.
Eli: Yes I know... I felt the love and pain the felt. There was so much compassion to be felt! And it made me mad with Aphrodite, Julians mother. Can you believe Aphrodite? All the suffering she caused for Julian, the curse and everything? All of his loneliness.... and how no woman ever wanted him, only his body, his mother was the cause of that! But then, as the story progressed, I understood Aphrodite, but still thought she was so selfish!
Ali: Yeah, there was more to her story than what I first believed.
So, now I've got to ask... Will you be reading the next book in the series?
Eli: Definetely! No question about it!
Ali: Me, too!! I've already got it ordered, and have scheduled it for next month.
Will you be reading other stories by Sherrilyn Kenyon?
Eli: I loved how the story flowed, I loved her writing style, the way the characters are portrayed! I would! I'm not going to ask you, because I know you will be!
Ali: I have read other stories by her, and especially loved her BAD series, so yeah, you know I will.
What was your favorite scene?
Eli: Well, I can't pin point just one, but I loved it when they would lay down and read! Oh, and especially after Julian replaced all the books Grace had lost when Rodney broke in her home!
Ali: Yeah, that's what I was going to say, lol. How romantic... a man buying books *sigh*
Eli: I can not believe he sold his ring! I was like OMGOSH!!!
Ali: I was shocked! But, I think it just shows how much he came to care for and love her.
Eli: So, what did you think of Cupid being a biker? LOL Can you really see that? I thought it was rather funny!
Ali: Yeah, I wasn't expecting that, lol.
Eli: Another scene that I liked was when Julian was confronted with Paul! I wanted to kill Paul myself, not just Julian! Poor Grace, to have been used like that!
Ali: Just talking about this makes me want to read book #2 now, lol
Eli: This book is in my favorite list!
Ali: which leads me to my next question... Will this book be in your keeper shelf? I'm guessing that's a big 'Yes' for you, lol
Eli: LOL, smart Ali
Ali: I know it's in my keeper shelf... especially as I have a signed copy
Eli: ... and to think I procrastinated to read this book! But once I started reading it, I couldn't put the thing down! I dont find very many books like that!
Ali: Wow, that's saying a lot, then.
Eli: Yes, like I told you earlier! I'd walk around the house, including the restroom with the book in my hand!
Ali: ha, lol
Anything you didn't like about the story?
Eli: The only thing was that there was just tooo much suffering for Julian. I felt for him truly! What about you, Ali?
Ali: Hm... I don't think there way anything I didn't like about this story actually. The pace was perfect, I enjoyed the characters and really felt and believed the chemistry between Grace and Julian.
Anything you'd like to add?
Eli: Anybody who hasn't read Fantasy Lover! Get it now! Read it! You wont regret it!
Ali: Exactly what Eli said, lol... and I'm giving one lucky reader a chance to win a signed copy of Fantasy Lover *bg*
Eli: To be entered for a chance to win, what do the readers have to do?
Ali: You know what?? This time, I'm leaving that up to you So, Eli, what should we have readers do for a chance at their own Fantasy Lover?.... the book that is, lol
Eli: Darn! I did want my own Fantasy Lover! Wouldn't that be great though?!? Let's see, to win a signed copy of Fantasy Lover, just leave Ali a comment and let us know how you liked our review... Was it helpful at all, informative, funny, boring? LOL. You guys get the point!
