Guest of the Week: Patrice Michelle

This week, it's a joy to announce our guest author, whos books will have you begging for more:

Patrice Michelle

*applause*

I first started reading Patrice with her Ellora's Cave release, Harm's Hunger, part of her Bad in Boots cowboys series. If you haven't read this series, it's a definite must... Patrice's cowboys are definitely drool worthy ;)

This week, we'll be celebrating Patrice Michelle's debut Silhouette Nocturne novel, Scions: Resurrection!!! This is the first in Patrice's new paranormal series... and what a great start it is, trust me *g*. This novel is phenomenal... it'll make your heart pound... have you on the edge of your seat... and you'll definitely feel the heat between Ariel and Jachin ;)

*Bio:

Born and raised in the Southeast, award-winning author Patrice Michelle gave up her financial calculator for a keyboard and never looked back. Thanks to an open-minded family who taught her that life isn’t as black and white as we’re conditioned to believe, she pens her novels with the belief that various shades of gray are a lot more interesting. She’s a natural with a point-and-shoot camera, likes to fiddle with graphic design and, to the relief of her family, strums her guitar to an audience of one.

**********

*Blurb:

Everyone believed vampires were extinct.

Everyone was wrong.

When Ariel Swanson wrote a novel about vampires, she hoped it would exorcise her fear of the creatures that had, not so long ago, terrorized the human population.
Instead, it brought her to their attention.

And to the attention of Jachin Black—a man banished from the Sanguinas, a vampire clan, and forced to hunt among the despised humans. For he clung to the prophecy given years ago, of a better way for his kind to live… a prophecy Ariel unknowingly used as the basis of her novel.

Ariel hates and fears vampires. Jachin despises humanity. But the prophesy—and passion—bind them in ways they could never have imagined. Ways that may heal the past, and change the future…

Scions: A prophecy reveals hidden secrets and holds the key to fulfilling their ultimate desires.

Guest of the Week & Excerpt: Bianca D'Arc

Thanks to Ali for graciously inviting me to guest blog here today. We met at last year's RT conference in Houston and she's every bit as nice as I imagined! I guess I'll talk about my newest release for you today and leave you with an excerpt. But first, I also want to mention a bit of good news regarding my Resonance Mates series.

The first book, Hara's Legacy, is already out in ebook, but it'll be coming out in print next March - right after the 2nd book in the series, Davin's Quest, is scheduled for ebook release, as a matter of fact. The good news is that I've been told Hara's Legacy is going to have a much larger print run than my previous books. You might begin to notice a lot more publicity for this book, starting early next year. I'm really excited about it!

And now for more information on my latest relase, Sweeter Than Wine...

Sweeter Than Wine by Bianca D'Arc
ISBN 1-59998-682-5

An abused woman has the power to unite werefolk, fey and vampire against an evil that would see them all dead—if she can learn to love again.

Christy lies near death after a brutal beating by her estranged husband. Her preternatural friends reach a desperate conclusion: The only way to save her is to turn her. Sebastian steps forward to take on the burden of being her Maker.

For him it’s no burden at all. She draws him as no other woman has for centuries. With the help of a werecougar friend, Sebastian teaches Christy about her new life and abilities, making certain she is as strong as he can make her. Only then can she face her abusive ex-husband and put her old life behind her. But Christy’s ex-husband is involved in something more dangerous than any of them had guessed.

Vampire, were, and even a fey knight must work together to put an end to the threatening evil. To overcome her past, help keep the darkness at bay, and fight for a new life with Sebastian, Christy must draw on all of her new-found strength.

Will it be enough?

Warning: this title contains explicit sex, graphic language, ménage a trois, hot neck biting and werecougar stroking.

Christina woke in slow increments, like a kitten just learning about the world around it. Sebastian watched her from the side of the large bed, waiting for the moment when she’d realize she wasn’t alone.

“I bet you’re hungry.” He was enchanted by the sleepy look in her eyes as she met his gaze. Rubbing her tummy, she looked like she was considering his words.

“I feel strange.”

He nodded and moved closer, sitting on the edge of the bed. “That’s to be expected when you’re newly turned.”

“Then it wasn’t a dream?”

“No, my dear. It was most certainly real.” He dipped his head closer, smiling so she could see his fangs. He was hungry too, it seemed. “You’ve been deep in healing sleep for more than two days. That’s longer than most of the newly turned, but you were gravely injured, so I encouraged your sleep.” He tugged at the sheet that covered her, inching it away. “I’ve decided on a course of action some might consider reckless.” He paused. “Do you trust me?”

She seemed to think that one over before answering. “I think so.”

“What I’m going to ask of you will seem strange, but I need you to believe it is for your own welfare that I’ve even considered this.” He pulled the sheet a little lower.

“Now you’re frightening me, Sebastian.”

“That’s not my intent. But I need you to know that what comes next is necessary for your future. I want you to be strong enough to deal with Jeff Kinsey on your own. I believe standing up to him—and winning—is the only way to face the rest of your years, now that you are immortal. If you let him win, even the smallest confrontation, it will set a tone for your new life that could prove disastrous.”

“Did I mention you’d already scared me enough?”

Sebastian was glad to see a spark of humor in her wary eyes. It made him feel a little better about what he was about to do, though other aspects of his plan still made him uneasy. There was jealousy for one thing. It was likely to eat him alive before long. Good thing the task could be accomplished quickly. He knew he couldn’t take too much of this.

“I’m sorry, Christina. What I propose will not hurt. On the contrary, it will bring you great pleasure, but it is somewhat…risqué. I know from your friends that you’ve never been very adventurous sexually. That will have to change.”

She looked wary, but receptive. “What exactly are you talking about?”

“Your body is fully healed now, and its chemistry forever altered. Now it’s time for your lessons to begin.”

“Lessons?”

“I promised to teach you everything you need to know to survive in your changed state. Those lessons begin now, with our most basic needs¾blood and lust. You need to feed.” He dipped his head, kissing her savagely. He didn’t mean to do it, but her soft lips were so close, so inviting, he couldn’t resist.

Sebastian reveled in the sweet taste of her, delving deep with his tongue as her petite fangs began to emerge. He ran his tongue over them, encouraging their arrival. He’d forgotten how it felt to kiss one of his own kind. It was beyond erotic. It was nearly orgasmic in itself.

When she jumped, he pulled back, looking past her beautiful, bare body to see what had scared her. Sebastian understood her alarm when he saw Matt. He’d come in and prowled right up to the bed, taking a seat near the foot as if he belonged there, while Sebastian had been distracted. It was a shock to realize he’d been so lost in her kiss, he hadn’t even sensed Matt’s arrival. Matt’s knowing wink didn’t go a long way to soothe Sebastian’s self-recrimination, but it did make him smile. The lad was audacious, but Christina needed a little nudge to guide her on this path. Before the night was through, Sebastian knew she’d need to put all her inhibitions behind her and Matt Redstone was just the creature to help her do it.

“I invited a mortal friend to help you learn how to feed both bodily and psychically.” He waved one hand toward Matt, releasing her slowly. “He is were. You might note the difference in his scent from ordinary mortals. He’ll make an excellent first feeding for you to grow strong and he’s agreed to let us use him as our guinea pig for this evening. It’s a rare honor. You should be thankful.”

Christy looked at the gorgeous, muscular man who sat on the edge of her bed and began stroking her legs. “Um, thank you?”

Simply Interviewed: Cynthia Eden

**Ali: Cynthia, welcome and thank you for being with us here this week. *g*

*Cynthia: Hi, Ali! Thank you very much for inviting me. I'm very happy to be visiting at your blog.

**Ali: First of all, I just want to say what a BIG fan I am of your work!! I'm so glad I got to meet you at RT. And, I'm just thrilled I found your stories in the first place... thank God for my werewolf story cravings, lol... Speaking of werewolves and all things paranormal, what drew you into writing in this genre?

*Cynthia: Thank you! And it was a pleasure to meet you at RT, too!

As for writing paranormals, well, I've always loved the supernatural. Loved hearing ghost stories. When I first started writing (with the intent to get published and not just for pleasure--because I did the pleasure writing for a LONG time), I wrote straight contemporaries, but...I just felt like something was missing. When I added the paranromal elements into the tales, well, it really felt like the plot-lines just came so much easier for me.

**Ali: So far, you've written one contemporary romance, Never Enough in Secrets Volume 16... which was a great read... I loved both the story line and characters (especially Jake *drool*)... do you have plans on writing any other contemporaries?

*Cynthia: Right now, I'm planning to do more paranromals--I'll be writing sexy paranormal suspense tales for Kensington. I'm having such a great time with the paranormals that I'd like to keep doing them for a while, but I would also like to eventually try my hand at a time travel or a romantic suspense. (And thanks for the compliment on Jake! Never Enough was actually the very first story that I sold to Red Sage, but, when there was an editor change, it wound up being the second of my
stories to be published with them.)

**Ali: Okay, Cynthia... I've looked and looked at your upcoming releases and they all sound hot *g*, but, I didn't see any more werewolves after Caged Wolf in Secrets Volume 21. I've got my fingers crossed that you're writing more... yes? Can you let us in on what you've got planned for the future?

*Cynthia: Oh, yes, Ali, there will be more...I'm going to be doing a few "shifter" stories for Kensington. In Hotter After Midnight, my hero is a wolf shifter and while the story mythology is different from my Secrets tales, all of the strong character traits of the werewolf are most definitely still present. In 08, I'll also have a jaguar shifter story out, and a story about, well, the bogeyman. Then I'll offer an X-Files meets Basic Instinct story in the form of Midnight Sins (12/08)--that's my first ever succubus story. After that, well, I'm heading back to vampire land--I'll have two stories out about vampires--female vamps this time, and one of those vampires will find herself paired with a dragon shifter. (Have I ever mentioned how much I adore dragons?)

**Ali: What inspires your stories?

*Cynthia: Everything! I swear, sometimes I get inspired just by walking down the street. Songs inspire me, movies do, pictures, people--truly, everything.

**Ali: Where can readers find you online?

*Cynthia: My web address is
www.cynthiaeden.com and on MySpace, I'm at:
www.myspace.com/cynthiaeden.

**Ali: And finally, inquiring minds want to know, when your schedule allows, what do you enjoy reading? What's up next in your pile of books to read? ;)

*Cynthia: Paranormals, of course! I recently finished Kresley Cole's Wicked Deeds on a Winter's Night--and I loved that book!!! I love her entire Immortals After Dark series. Unfortunately, I don't have a book lined up next--I've just started writing a new book, so I'm saving my reading until I get the first three chapters and synopsis done. Then, my "reward" will be a trip to the bookstore--and several days of reading
time.

Excerpt: A Red Hot New Year & Secrets Volume 21

Today we have excerpts from not one, but two of Cynthia Eden's releases! Enjoy *g*

A Red Hot New Year
By:
Cynthia Eden, Diana Mercury, Denise Rossetti, Virginia Reede
Published By: Avon Red

Excerpt from "New Year's Bites":

She was too hot. Anna rubbed her hand over the back of her neck, felt the slick touch of sweat against her palm. Her heart was racing, much too fast, and the music seemed loud—so loud her temples were pounding in a matching beat.

Jon was beside her. Standing so close that his arm brushed against hers. Even that small touch rippled through her sensitive body. A hard yearning filled her.

God, she wanted his hands on her.

Her head titled back. Her breath expelled in a hard rush. Voices drifted over her, around her, and—

“I want you to kiss me.” There. She’d said it. Bald. Desperate. She didn’t care. She wanted him, no, needed him to kiss her then. So bad she was aching.

Jon’s brows rose at her words and he sat down his drink. His fingers wrapped around her wrist and he started to pull her toward the balcony doors.

She didn’t move. “No, here.” She wanted his mouth on hers, wanted those lips pressing against her and his tongue driving deep.

What was happening to her?

His blue eyes met hers. His head lowered and his mouth covered hers.

Yes. Her fingers clenched around his shoulders and she rose onto her toes. Her lips parted, and his tongue swept inside.

A growl rumbled in her throat.

More. Her tongue met his, rubbing, teasing, tasting. And he tasted so good. Rich, but sweet, like the champagne he’d just put to his mouth.

God, she wanted more. Her nails dug into his flesh and heat pooled low in her belly.

She wanted to rip his clothes away. To feel his hard flesh against her, to feel the strong length of his cock nudging against her opening—

The sound of ripping fabric reached her ears.

Anna jerked away, gasping. What was happening? She stared at Jon, horrified. Her nails had torn the sleeves of his shirt. “I-I’m sorry, this isn’t—” me. She swiped a hand across her forehead. It was so hot.

Her gaze darted to the balcony. Outside. Yes, yes, she needed to get outside. She pushed past Jon, humiliated. She’d ripped his shirt like some kind of sex crazy nympho—in the middle of a crowded room of people.

She grabbed a champagne flute, drained the sweet drink in one gulp and shoved the glass back on the tray. Then she was pushing open the glass doors of the balcony and stepping outside. No one else was out there, and the slightly cool night air feathered over her skin. It should have calmed her, taken away some of the desperate heat, but it didn’t.

Seconds later, Jon stepped behind her. She knew it was him without even turning around. She could smell him. His cologne, the darker scent of man.

She could see perfectly without her glasses.

Could catch a man’s scent and know instantly who he was.

And she was so damn hot. Burning, from the inside.

Jon touched her shoulder and she had to bite back the moan that rose to her lips.

Secrets Volume 21: Primal Heat
By: Cynthia Eden, Kate St. James, Mia Carano, Larissa Ione
Published By: Red Sage Publishing
You can purchase HERE

Excerpt from "Caged Wolf":

A door waited in front of him. A plain wooden door, scuffed by time. Behind it, he was sure he would find her.

His mate. His.

Finally.

Alerac shoved open the door.

A young blond woman whirled, her pale blue eyes widening. He paused a moment, staring at her. He…knew her. He’d seen her before—

A slow smile curved her full lips. “I hoped I’d see you tonight, La Mort.”

The hair on his nape rose. Something was wrong. Very, very wrong. He could sense it, could sense—

She raised her hand. Her fingers were curled around the butt of a gun.

Horror filled him. No, this couldn’t be happening. She was his mate, all of his senses told him she was the one woman destined to be his for all time. She couldn’t do this, couldn’t—

She pulled the trigger. A white-hot lance of pain burned through his chest. He fell to the floor, and a thick, drugging heaviness swept over him.

Was this death?

The woman walked toward him, her high heels clicking softly on the concrete floor. “Don’t worry, wolf. I don’t plan to kill you…yet.”

Wolf. She knew, he realized, as the room began to dim, she knew what he was. He struggled to keep his eyes open, struggled see her, to speak. “Y-you’re going t-to pay for th-this, cherie.” Mate or no, he would see her punished.

Her lips curved into a cold, hard smile. “No, wolf, it will be you who pays.”

He tried to reach for her, but he couldn’t move. Darkness swept over him, and he saw no more.

* * *

Madison Langley stared down at the prone man on the floor. Her heart was racing, her palms soaked with sweat.

She’d done it. She’d actually done it.

Fumbling, she managed to jerk her cell phone out of her back pocket. Her fingers trembled as she punched in the number.

A man answered on the second ring. “Did you get him?”

Her gaze was still on Alerac. Still on the strong, unmoving figure. “Yeah, I got him.”

“Good.” A pause, then, “Two of my men are waiting behind the bar. They’ll help you move La Mort. When he’s secured, call me back.”

“Right.” She ended the call and crouched beside Alerac. Her hand lifted, hesitated over his body.

A strange desire to touch him filled her. To touch that blond mane of hair. To feel his strong flesh beneath her fingers.

Her hand fisted.

What in the hell was wrong with her? He was a monster.

Her teeth clenched and she jerked away from him.

Alerac La Mort was a murdering bastard. And soon, very soon, he would get exactly what he deserved.

Guest Blogger: Cynthia Eden

The Writing Life

When people find out what I do for a living, I often get comments like: “Oh, I’ve always wanted to write a book.” I read a report once that said about 80% of people would like to write a book.

And to those 80 %, I have to say, “Do it.” Because, well, I just don’t think there are many things that are better than the writing life.

Think about it…you get to create your own world. Create characters that you control. A strong heroine. A sexy as hell hero. You get to murder. You get to seduce. You get to have the best dang time of your life…all in the pages of a book.

Even if I hadn’t managed to sell my books (Yes! I’ll be celebrating that until I die!), I would still write. The pure escapism of writing makes me so happy. I feel recharged when I write, completely rejuvenated—and that’s a feeling that I never got while working at my previous assortment of jobs.

So, if you’re one of the mysterious 80% out there…take a chance. Write. Write a sexy romance. A chilling horror. Write whatever you want…and see if you enjoy the writing life. After all, what have you got to lose?

(And a big thanks to Ali for inviting me to her blog!)

Guest of the Week: Cynthia Eden

Oh my goodness, *giggle* this week our guest author is:

Cynthia Eden!!!

*applause*

Okay, I have to admit that Cynthia is one of my favorite new authors I've found this year *bg* and I was both surprised and ecstatic when she agreed to be a guest on my blog :)

I discovered Cynthia while reading her novella, Bite of the Wolf, in Red Sage Publishing's Secrets Volume 15. As a matter of fact, Cynthia's novella was the reason I bought the book in the first place because I was craving some more werewolf stories ;) And boy was this a hot one... right away I bought all other Secret novels that included Cynthia's novellas, lol

I actually got to meet Cynthia at this past April's RT Convention... she was so nice! *g*

This week, I hope you can come back and visit Cynthia here as we celebrate her latest release, A Red Hot New Year, which includes her novella, New Year's Bites.

*Bio:

Cynthia Eden primarily writes tales of paranormal suspense and erotic romance. She’s always loved writing (don’t most authors say that?), and particularly enjoys creating stories about monsters–vampires, werewolves, all of those creatures that haunt the imagination.

Cynthia’s publishers include Kensington Brava, Avon Red, Red Sage, and ImaJinn Books.

Cynthia graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Alabama where she studied Sociology (because people interest her) and Communication (because she likes to write about said people). She worked as a journalist on her university’s paper (yes, she’s admitted to a not-so-secret desire to be Lois Lane). Later, as she traveled the long and bumpy road to romance publication, Cynthia was employed as a college counselor and as a teacher.

Seducing her lover at a lavish party seems like the perfect way for Chantal to rekindle their lost passion. But the tables are turned when she finds herself the target of an even more intoxicating man's desire . . . in Diana Mercury's Night Resolutions.

During a weekend getaway at a cozy mountain cabin, two couples decide the long winter nights lend themselves to exciting sensual exploration. But no one expects their red-hot sessions will turn good friends into lovers for life . . . in Virginia Reede's Snow Blind.

Gina is your average female who just happens to become a bit of a . . . dragon when she's turned on! Good thing she's found the kind of savagely sexy man who can bring out the beast in her . . . in Denise Rossetti's Coming on Strong.
