Ali, it’s a pleasure being a guest on your blog this week. Thank you for this opportunity. I’d love hearing everyone’s thoughts about romance and erotic fiction, erotica and reading. From those persons who’ve posted/commented, I’ll draw one winner for a seasonal surprise. If anyone has any questions regarding my posts, or on any topics for that matter, feel free to comment and I’ll gladly respond.
While preparing a new recipe recently, I mulled over the similarities between culinary creations and works of fiction. When getting the ingredients ready, I want to make sure I add the right amount of what’s listed but also infuse something to make the recipe unique. Also make sure the ingredients are as fresh as possible. Same goes for us authors and our books. We’ve all read and enjoyed Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Knight-in-Shining-Armor stories. And it’s amazing how each author puts his or her “brand” on these classic tales and universal themes. Our minds are always searching for ways to reinvent. Long before I started writing toward publication, romance authors held my respect and admiration for the way they crafted their tales and turned a prototype on paper into heroes and heroines who lived in my heart and mind long after I finished reading the book. That also remains my goal throughout the plotting, writing and editing process—giving readers memorable stories that are different from any they’ve read. Call it rebel or call it individualistic, I thrive on twisting plots and telling them in a unique voice.
In 2007 I had the pleasure of seeing one of my writing dreams fulfilled. I accepted my first contract with Ellora’s Cave for their new Exotika line. Since then I’ve published two erotica romance stories with them—HELLE IN HEELS and ROUGHRIDER (many thanks for checking out ROUGHRIDER, Ali, and I’m glad you enjoyed it). These stories are completely different, but they both feature a feisty heroine and heroes who live as hard as they love. I am hopeful of bringing more adventures featuring the characters of these stories to readers and am currently working on an erotic historical romance and a paranormal erotica romance.
I’ve always enjoyed reading all genres, my favorites being romance fiction, women’s fiction and erotica. Those are also the genres I most enjoy writing. My beloved mother championed my love of the written word well before I started Kindergarten. She succumbed to cancer before the completion of my first novel—a historical romance that remains unpublished—but I shared the story with her in serialized fashion during the time we spent together. Since then I’ve completed multiple manuscripts of short stories, novellas, and novels. Sharing my stories with readers is one of my greatest blessings. My voice has been described as unique, sassy, edgy, sexy, provocative and fun. Did I mention how much I enjoy these adjectives?

Hi Shawna and Ali,

Going back to the snow and cold, with a warm book!

Shawna, I love your guest post *g* Thanks for being here this week! I really do hope you bring back your characters in another book, I'd love to read it :)
Love your tag line, by the way... it would save me money on lingerie, lol... and keep me warmer ;)
Hi, Wendi!
Thanks for your kind words and support! They mean a lot :) Glad you made it to the cyber party :) I'm sending lots of warm wishes your way. It's cold and blustery outside today, so I'm staying inside as much as possible, writing and blogging :)
Happy holidays,
Shawna
Hi, Ali!
It's a pleasure being here this week. I've always enjoyed reading your blog posts and am glad to be this week's guest :)
At one point in time, I never thought I'd write stories that would turn into a series. A dear friend of mine, P.G. Forte, proved my inspiration and guiding force in the decision to start writing connected stories :) Helle, Roughrider, and the erotic historical romance on which I'm working have persuaded me to write additional stories based on their characters and settings :)
Today, I'll send lots of warm wishes you way. The wind's howling here, so I'm staying indoors and enjoying some hot coffee while I type :)
Smiles across the miles,
Shawna
Hi Shawna,
Congrats on all your success. I'm especially interested in the story that takes place in the Big Easy. I hope it becomes available soon. Maybe one day your first historical will be published.
Hi, Jane!
Welcome to the cyber party :) I appreciate your stopping by today :)
The unpublished historical romance is one of those books of my heart. Someday I'll go through and rework all 432 pages of that manuscript. The biggest challenge is my voice has changed a great deal since writing that tale. I truly appreciate your encouragement and your congratulations :)
Please drop me a note if you read any of my stories. I always enjoy hearing from readers :)
Happy holidays,
Shawna
I really enjoyed the posts this week. The book sounds great and I really enjoyed reading more about your other books on your website. :-)
Hi Shawna, I enjoyed all the fun facts on your MySpace page. What other stories do we have to look forward to?
Hi, Irwirum!
Glad you're enjoying the posts. Stay tuned...there are more to come, including an excerpt from ROUGHRIDER tomorrow. I'm glad for the chance to chat with you all this week :) Thanks for checking out my website :)

Hi, Cathy!
Thanks for being here and posting :)As I've always enjoyed reading interesting facts about friends and fellow authors, I thought I'd put a bit of my persona into the Myspace pages :) Glad you enjoyed the facts and content :)
I'm currently working on an erotic historical romance novel. I've plotted Helle's third set of adventures and a women's fiction novel. The idea file is full on the dining room table, and I keep adding more to it :)
Happy Holidays,
Shawna
Wonderful interview! So sorry bout your mom I Know what that's like but know she's always with yah (:
Hi, Jaycee!
Thanks for your kind words :) My mom is with me daily in spirit, spurring me on with the writing. She was an avid romance fiction reader and read ten or more books each week. She adored the Gothics. She was my biggest influence and was excited when I told her about embarking on a writing career :)
Happy Holidays,
Shawna
I will be here. I really enjoy Ali's blog. Love reading the excerpts and hearing about books. Of course it also makes my TBB list a lot longer. :-)
I blogged about your contest : Shawna Moore Contest
You're doing a wonderful thing here!
Hi, Irwirum!
I know what you mean about the TBR pile and TBB list :) With colder weather here, I'll be curling up more evenings and reading after the writing day is done.
Happy holidays,
Shawna

Hi, Laura!
We ladies all love wearing those flirty bits of lingerie for our significant others. And keeping those guys happy reaps its rewards :) With winter on the way, I'll be glad for the masculine wrap once under the sheets. Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by the party!
Happy holidays,
Shawna
