Guest Blogger: Sherrill Quinn

Today's the day!! In case you don't know, today, Sherrill Quinn's Sassy Devils: Demon of Her Dreams released at Ellora's Cave!!

Congratulations, Sherrill!! *applause*

Now, today, Sherrill is here to talk to us about how she came up with the idea for her new series, Sassy Devils....

**********

The idea for the Sassy Devils series came to me on an airplane going from Phoenix to Cleveland, taking me home for my dad's funeral almost a year ago. I don't remember exactly what I was doing, but the words "Sassy Devils, LLC" popped into my head and wouldn't leave. Almost immediately following those words came the layout of the "company": the Angel Division, headed by the Archangel Gabriel, with subdivisions of Guardian Angels, Guiding Angels (what we humans call our conscience), and Angels of Retribution (the executioners of the supernatural world). There is a Faery Division, headed by Queen Tatiana, and is made up of the Elven Department (comprised of elves, leprechauns, trolls, dwarves, etc.) and the Classical Department (made up of nymphs, satyrs, centaurs, and all things in classical mythology except for the Greek gods--they've been exiled). Finally we have the Demon Division, headed up by Lucifer, with subdivisions including the Shapeshifter Department, the Blooddrinker Department (vampires, chupacabras, etc.), the Demon Department, and the Night Terror Department (nightmares, hobgoblins, gargoyles, etc.). The Chairman of the Board? God, of course.

Fully formed...vhoooomp. There it all was. Sassy Devils, LLC with Yahweh (God) at the helm and lots and lots of interesting, er, creatures to choose from for story ideas. But seeing as how I was planning to submit the first book to Ellora's Cave, it seemed only natural that the hero of this first book would be a sex demon. *G*

If someone were to ask me where the idea came from, my response will have to be... I don't know. But my dad has always been sassy (well, more accurately, he was a smarta**) and he was certainly devilish as well. Maybe that was something I pulled out of the ether to remember him by. However it happened, Sassy Devils, LLC had arrived. And, I hope, is here to stay for a very long time.

Pam, my dad was just 2 weeks away from his 80th birthday when he died--I had already bought plane tickets and was planning to go back to visit with him because he had gotten so ill. He just didn't hang on long enough and my brother and I ended up flying back for his funeral instead. It was bittersweet. I have a lot of good memories of my dad, and most of them involve him being ornery. LOL
