Ali's Review: Bloodmate 1

Bloodmate: I

By: Jaden Sinclair

Published by: Mardi Gras Publishing

Length: 2 fangs, 61 pgs.

Ali's Report Card: B+

Genre: Paranormal (Vampire)

Tempest Fager has been hiding from a fate she never wanted to be a part of. A fate named Lucian Deluca.
For as long as she's had to, she bleeds herself daily, ensuring one more day of freedom.

For Lucian Deluca, finding his bloodmate, Tempest, is a matter of life and death... for her. But, with the help of his best-friend, Julian, Lucian is finally able to locate her. Only now its a game of give and take as Lucian tries to give Tempest the relief and pleasure she needs only to have her try and take off. Lucian's only hope is to convince Tempest that as a bloodmate, he needs her as much as she needs him in order to survive.

With Bloodmate I, Jaden Sinclair has created a unique plot, where taking blood not only insures the vampires survival, but also his bloodmate's. Throughout this story it's a struggle between Tempest and Lucian as she fights for her freedom. Lucian's patience is tested many times with Tempest as he tries to make her understand that she's not a slave to him but a mate. Jaden Sinclair shows she knows how to tease as she leaves you wanting more by the end of this novella ;-) The heat between these two will leave you hot and wanting.

Lucian's friends Julian and Corban are a great addition to this story with their humor and loyalty to Lucian.

With great plot and characters, this is an enjoying read :-) My only problem was that I felt the story between Tempest and Lucian wasn't quite finished by the end of this story. There didn't seem to be a solid conclusion to their story. So, I dearly hope to hear more about them in Julian's story, Bloodmate II, which is set to release from Mardi Gras Publishing in November 11, 2006.

Bloodmate I was a great introduction to this series and I can't wait for future releases :-)

When he finally finds her, his only concern is to ease her pain, to complete the bond between them. Now he works to show her how right they are together, and then pain from another begins to form. Pain that his best friend Julian feels, pain so excruciating it almost brings him to his knees. Can Lucian help his best friend or will his need for Tempest take over?

Ali's Review: Butterfly Kisses

Butterfly Kisses

By: Ann Cory

Published by: Cobblestone Press

Length: 3 laps in the pool, 55 pgs.

Ali's Report Card: A+

Warning: Get your kleenex out because you'll be sure to shed a few tears.

Charlene is a competitive swimmer on her way to the Olympics and by her side is her lover and fiance Bryan. Just when things are starting to look up for Charlene, tragedy strikes. Now, faced with the possibility of a bleak future and the thought of no more butterfly kisses from Bryan, can he be Charlene's guiding light?

Ann Cory has penned a beautiful heartfelt novella in Butterfly Kisses. I once read that a novella is like taking a tiny look through a keyhole, and that's just what this feels like. We're taking a glimpse into a part of the life of Charlene and Bryan.

After suffering an accident and left with feelings of despair, Charlene decides there is no future between herself and Bryan. Charlene is a strong female, but she doesn't know how she'll go on without her swimming or, more importantly, Bryan and his butterfly kisses. Loving him so much, though, she decides that he would be better off without her. But as hard as she tries to push Bryan away, he pushes back even harder, willing to fight for their love.

Their love will be tested many times during her stay in the hospital and her inner struggle. But Bryan's found love and happiness with Charlene and he's not about to give it up.

There's so much to love in this story and its characters that I must highly recommend it. The plot to this story is unlike any other I've read for a novella. These aren't two people who just met and don't know how they feel for each other, Bryan and Charlene have an established relationship and know they love each other. But now that life has placed an unforseen challange in their lives they'll find out if love really is strong enough to hold them together.

Ann has written Bryan and Charlene in such a real-to-life way that you can actually believe and feel their every joy, sorrow, love and heat come off the pages. You'll even shed a few tears as you read how Bryan tries to help Charlene as he himself copes.

This novella has just the right ingredient, of sugar and spice with a dash of bdsm, to make a beautiful story you'll not want to see end. It's not surprising, though, seeing as Ann has a way of writing that will pull you into her story. I'm sure you'll enjoy any one of her many stories :-)

P.S. If anyone finds a man like Bryan can you give him my e-mail addy? lol Seriously, who would turn away any man who's willing to live out your fantasy then stay by your bedside when you're in the hospital. Here's a man any female can appreciate. Bryan loves deeply...umm, you can take that both ways ;-), lol, and isn't afraid to show his love. So be on the look out and keep me in mind.

I'm baaack :-)

Okay...so I take ten days off for vacation, which I still don't think I can call it a vacation since I didn't feel rested or relaxed, and it's going to take me another twenty days to play catch up. I mean can you believe that I didn't even get to *gasp* read anything! Ugh, the horror :-))
Looking at my blog, I realize that I didn't finish putting up my review for Butterfly Kisses by Ann Cory. Which is terrible of me, because you all have just got to read this one. I didn't realize at first that it was going to be a novella, but Ann has weaved a beautiful short story here. And yes, you will need a couple tissues when reading this one. Let me stop now before I give it all away :-)
I'll have to post more about this so-called-vacation I just came back from. It was filled with last minute wedding plans, a baby sister who makes me feel guilty, a younger brother who can act like a jerk, his new club dancing girlfriend (I honestly thought that was hilarious when my father found out, lol), a father who tends to be a ladies man :-)), and so much more... To me, it felt like I was in a real life comedy-drama :-))
I'll be back in a bit...
